In the current socio-economic context and in the transition to electrification, the Galician Automotive and Mobility Sector close the financial year 2024 with a turnover of 12,800 million euros, which represent a decrease of 1.5% with respect to previous year. The figure is equivalent to the 15.7% of Galician GDP.
The exports of the Sector, that reached 8,970 million euros, also decreased by 4.5% compared to 2023, representing 29% of Galicia’s total exports.
Special mention should be made of the foreign sales of the components sector, which grew more than the sector as a whole, specifically by 10%, reaching 2,170 million euros, reaching a record high and consolidating, for yet another year, the supplier industry as a powerful export engine. The main products or services abroad were mainly destined for countries such as Portugal, France, Algeria, Poland, Argentina, United Kingdom, Germany, USA, Italy and Morocco.
In terms of employment, the number of employees in the automotive and mobility industry fell by 5% last year, with 23,600 direct jobs (as at 31 December), equivalent to 14.1% of industrial employment in our region.
However, despite the current context of uncertainty in the sector, due to the impact of electrification, new regulations and competition from low-cost countries, companies have increased their investment figures to 167 million euros.
For yet another year, the Galician automotive industry, which manufactured 21.7% of the vehicles produced in Spain in 2024, continues to lead the national ranking, thanks to Stellantis Vigo, which repeats as the most productive car factory.
